PRODUCT CARE & WARRANTY

H2O Flooring Products Care

We’ve gathered essential information to help you care for your EVA Flooring and keep it in like-new condition for years to come. From proper storage and covering to protection against light amplification and effective cleaning, these guidelines are key to preserving the quality and longevity of your H2O Flooring, especially in harsh marine environments.

H2O Flooring Storage Before Installation (DIY Projects)

Upon receiving your H2O Flooring, unpack carefully. Short-term folding or rolling during delivery is fine, but for longer storage, lay items flat to prevent creasing or curling. If curling occurs, place large, flat objects (e.g., books) on curled areas to smooth them without risk of damage.
Store flat in a dry, indoor location at 15°C–37°C (60°F–100°F). To prevent fading or color mismatches, store unused items in a dark, dry place away from sunlight, as humidity can affect the adhesive backing over time.

Extend Your Flooring’s Life with Proper Covering

Once installed, covering your H2O Flooring when not in use will help protect it and extend its life. For installations in boats, keep the boat under cover whenever possible, using a boat cover, garage, carport, or boat shed to shield it from the elements and preserve its quality.

Preventing Damage from Light Amplification

Light amplification happens when light passes through, reflects off, or is magnified by another surface. This can affect your H2O Flooring, as sunlight reflecting off gel-coat surfaces may damage your new EVA Flooring.

For certain applications and under certain conditions, decking applied in the cockpit and other areas with vertical surfaces and/or reflecting off hardware/stainless, etc., can expose your EVA Flooring to temperatures above the operational temperature of 70 ̊C.

Lighter colours can help reduce the Light Amplification problem. However, the chosen colour of your H2O Flooring will not affect how it is covered under our standard warranty if Light Amplification occurs.

All H2O Flooring products are designed with durability and fade-protection in mind. This means that they can easily withstand temperatures as high at 70 degrees Celsius, which from direct sunlight should not often be an issue. The issue arises when the light is amplified or magnified by surfaces such as windshields, or reflected by highly reflective surfaces, such as fibreglass. Amplified light can rise to temperatures in excess of 70 degrees, which can cause surfaces to distort, shift from their place of installation, or even immediately discolour.

Best practices to avoid EVA flooring deterioration due to light amplification:

  • Avoid long-term storage of items like inflatable pool toys, tools, or water bottles on the decking.
  • Keep the decking away from reflective surfaces or glass, as these can intensify sunlight and potentially damage the material.
  • Consider applying tinted films to the boat’s windscreen.
  • Consider covering parts of vertical white fiberglass surfaces with non-reflective materials.
  • Protect all parts of the EVA flooring from the elements when the boat is not in use.

Effective Cleaning Methods for Your H2O Flooring

To clean dirt, footprints, or other light-mud stains from your decking, use an all-purpose cleaner, warm water and a medium bristled deck brush. Mix the cleaning product with the warm water and dunk the brush in the warm water before using. Work around on the decking until dirt comes up. Rinse with fresh water. Repeat as required.

To remove suntan lotion or other oily substances, use an all-purpose cleaner alone with a medium bristled deck brush. Put a small amount of the all-purpose cleaner on area being cleaned. Dip the medium bristled boat brush in warm water and work around until oil is out. Rinse with water. Repeat as required.

To remove fish blood, use 1 cup bleach to 3.75 litres (1 gallon) of warm water and a soft brush. Mix the bleach and water and dunk in the warm water (being careful to use all recommended PPE and measures when making contact with the bleach). In a circular motion, clean decking until fish blood is up. Rinse with water. Repeat as required. If stain persists, please see the next cleaning recommendation.

To remove rust stains, use a cap full of Grunt Cleaner for fiberglass or similar. Apply on the rust stain and allow to soak for 3-5 minutes. If necessary, use latex/nitrile gloves to massage the cleaner into the brushed or embossed texture of the decking. Rinse with water. Repeat if necessary, the rust stain will eventually be removed.

With Grunt cleaner, please be careful to avoid getting this solvent on the sides of the decking, it could damage the lamination or PSA. Please be careful with all cleaning products. Wear vinyl or nitrile gloves and eye protection.

Do Not Use:

  • Mineral Spirits and/or Turpentine
  • Grunt Cleaner (or similar) as a general all-purpose cleaner (only use when recommended as per Rust Stains and stubborn fish blood stains)
  • Undiluted Bleach (if used, dilute at minimum 1:1 with water)

For best results, Clean up spills immediately to reduce the chance of staining, especially from substances like mustard, rust (e.g., from a fish hook), fish blood, or bird droppings, as these are the most likely to be impossible to remove if left too long on your H2O Flooring.

H2O Flooring Warranty

Get a Better Understanding Of The H2O Flooring Warranty

If you encounter any issues with your flooring, H2O Flooring will carefully review your case. While we strive for complete customer satisfaction and may sometimes choose to repair or replace a product even if all warranty conditions are not strictly met, this flexibility is at our discretion and does not alter or override any of the warranty terms.
Since EVA flooring is used in challenging marine environments, where exposure to saltwater and daily care directly impact its lifespan, we want to ensure that warranty terms are clear and specific to help customers get the best possible results from their flooring.

  1. H2O Flooring products are covered by a manufacturer warranty for a period of thirty-six (36) months.
  2. The warranty begins on the date shown on the receipt, which serves as the official start date. This date reflects when H2O Flooring has released the product, either through shipping or by direct handover to the buyer.
  3. To maintain your warranty, make sure you follow the care guidelines on this page, including proper storage before installation (for DIY projects only), covering, light protection, and approved cleaning methods. Visible signs of not following these guidelines may partially or fully void the product warranty.
  4. Only the original buyer of an H2O Flooring product is covered by this warranty. Coverage does not apply to later owners.
  5. The H2O Flooring warranty applies to material and workmanship of H2O flooring products itself only. Installation of H2O Flooring products on any surface, as well as their adhesion to boats or other applied surfaces, is not covered under our warranty.
  6. Some fading and/or discolouration of our products may occur with time and use in the marine environment. Such fading and/or discolouration is not covered by our limited warranty. The warranty covers only excessive fading or polymer degradation resulting from defective materials.
  7. Our warranty excludes deformation, discoloration, or any other damage to H2O Flooring products, as well as any other loss or damage resulting from exposure to temperatures above 70°C. Such temperatures may occur in specific installations where light is amplified on the surface of H2O Flooring products due to direct sunlight reflected from surfaces like windshields or clear, light-transmissible structures. Please take care to avoid installing H2O products in these areas, as it is the Buyer’s responsibility to ensure installations remain below the maximum temperature. H2O Flooring is not liable for any damage or loss resulting from product use or installation that exceeds 70°C. Any installation causing temperatures above this threshold will void the warranty entirely.
  8. H2O Flooring’s responsibility under this warranty is limited to the product’s replacement value, and we aren’t responsible for any indirect or additional damages.

Warranty Claims

If an H2O Flooring product is found to have defects in materials or workmanship and is within the warranty period, it will be replaced or refunded up to the original purchase value. Domestic shipping costs may be covered at H2O Flooring’s discretion, while international shipping costs are the responsibility of the buyer.

To submit a warranty claim, please complete a Warranty Replacement Request form and include photos of the defective product. Photos should be time-stamped or have a verifiable time and date.
